The person who modeled for me was really reluctant to wear this woman's red hat that I asked him to wear. The lighting was good with heavy shadows (A la Caravaggio) and this oil sketch resulted. When I finished this painting/sketch, it became one of the model's favorite paintings of himself. Although very rough, it is also a favorite of mine.
