Almost in Step

24” x 30” | Acrylic

I was fortunate to have two great trips to visit friends in Guatemala. In the city there was an event where there were probably 50 to 70 bands, painted in nice uniforms. It was exciting, colorful. Many of these people had very little materially but they were happy and celebrated their events. One of the bands that went by had a little boy in uniform to match his band's uniform. He was almost in step all the way. The only time he got out of step was to turn around to see his father or mother and that sort of got him off a little bit. But once he was assured they were still back there, he marched on. It's a happy memory.
