Arturo Toscanini was an Italian conductor. He was one of the most acclaimed and influential musicians of the late 19th and early 20th centuries. He was known for his intensity in conducting. In the Salina, Kansas public library, I was lucky to come across a book that featured black and white photographs of him. They begged me to paint them. So I obliged. I had not known of him before but now I feel a connection to him.
