This woman's penetrating direct gaze plus her casual pose is what attracted me to her and resulted in this painting. The casualness of her posing nude and the directness of her engagement were the objects of my attention in creating this painting. I think that the light blue background is not intrusive, in fact it causes her figure in the painting to come forward to confront or confide in the viewer.
