A quick glance from the car with an even quicker photo has become one of my favorite memories of Guatemala. I have incorporated many signs of the people within this painting. I was first drawn to the light in the upper right corner and then to the way it almost diminishes the speaking man. But my focus eventually was the two strong women seemingly unaffected by the talking man. Their postures, clothing, and faces remind me of the perseverance and strength of these survivors. The treatment of the windows above the women speaks to me of the variety and complexity of life.
