This is one of three paintings I did for an invitational show at the Kansas Wesleyan Arts Gallery. All three are done on purchased printed paper and each of the paintings I changed the direction of the floral patterns. (Featured in the paintings is Marlene Dietrich, a movie star from long ago). I used images of her in costume from some of her most famous movies. I bought the books from which the images were taken from the local library as they continue to rid their collection of classic books of famous portraits. Thanks to the library I now have a large collection of books with fantastic well-lighted portraits of movie stars from the 1920's to the 1970's. They are very special to me and have taught me a lot about composition and lighting.
