A number of years ago, I visited the Buddhist temple near Salina, Kansas. I had friends that I was helping to learn English and they were very kind and open to me. It was my first experience with Buddhists. I was impressed by some of their ceremonies and their friendship. This man was one of the monks at that time. I've since learned much more about Buddhism. I respect persons who hold that belief system and their dedication. I've since painted portraits of a number of people who come to the temple. Many are factory workers and laborers. Others have great skill, it's a fascinating group of people. And I'm grateful they allowed me to join with them in some of their celebrations. Most recently I was there to help celebrate the Thai New Year.
