While in Guatemala, my friend Angel and I wandered in a sculpture park at night. There was some fine sculptures but the one that really grabbed my attention was simply a set of wings mounted on the side of a building. I asked Angel to stand in front of the sculpture and this painting was the result. It's an oil painting during which I used several different techniques. If you take a close look, the technique I used for his shirt and shoulders is almost literally dripping in front of him. In my mind, this references Icarus, who according to Greek mythology perished by flying too near the sun with wax wings.
